They say, “Kids born in the families of businesspersons inherit their parent’s business and values”. Well, the life story of this biography’s subject, Mr. Mohamed Almarzooqi has a different tale.
Born in Dubai, UAE, Mohamed Almarzooqi has always been a person well-versed in international affairs. Due to exposure to different countries at a very young age, he learnt about different Asian cultural and economic practices.
His father, Mr. Yousif Mahmoud Almarzooqi, was running a business trading plywood in Dubai. Further more, his father would in volve the junior Almarzooqi in business events and day-to-day happenings. With this, he learnt about the financial aspect of trading.

After schooling in his home town in Dubai, he studied for a BTEC Diploma in Higher Business And Technical Communication Skills from Edexcel.
Known for education and excellence, Edexcel is the UK’s largest awarding organisation for vocational and academic qualifications required for schools, colleges, and workplaces, for both the UK and abroad. He completed this approved program at Dubai Polytechnic in September 2000.
Further, he enrolled for the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Business Information Technology. He enrolled for this programme at Dubai University College, where this course was launched by Edexcel.
Here, he studied 15+ different subjects related to computers, project management, communication skills and information technology.
Career & Later Years
While he was receiving his university education, somewhere at the age of 22, he was going through the phase of awakening. By this time, he had already been dealing with the family business for a decade and more.
With connections from different cultures, and the onset of new business avenues, he realized that the practices being used in his family business were outdated and restrictive, and he was certainly not finding more freedom to run the business the way he wanted.
In 2002, he started a small business in the tourism sector named “Middle East Travels & Tourism”. This company was started with a pretty small budget (less than 7000 dollars), which was provided by his grandfather. Tourism in Dubai was rising, and Almarzooqi had identified that too. Therefore, he was strongly passionate about his startup.
By 2005, he started actively looking for investors, since it was getting difficult to the point that he was struggling to pay his employees. In 2006, two of his connections, Shaikh Al Maktoum and Mr Essam Nazzer Alawadhi came to the rescue and offered him the needed capital in exchange for partnership.
In 2010, his company expanded and opened 7 branches internationally. Today, this company is one of the leaders in the tourism industry. Presently, hotel reservations, ticketing, and sightseeing are only some of the activities his 13 business conducts.
As of 2023, he owns 40% shareholding of this business.
COVID-19 & Beyond
Time and again, Mr Almarooqi has proven that he is unstoppable. In 2019 alone, he entered further into travel & tourism with “Middle East Holidays”. As of now, he holds 50% shares of the company. In 2020, with 50% shareholding, he established “Travel with us”, and by 2021, he came up with “24 Seven Tourism” in the heart of Dubai.
All these endeavours post COVID-19 brought more business to Dubai and parts of Dubai. Starting with DCC Health Club in 2020 with 20% shareholding, he opened 3 clinics in 2021, namely 24 Seven Home Care Services (20% shares), Dr 247 Home Care Services, (Chairman, 100% shares), and LAB 247 Diagnostic LLC (22.5% shares).
By 2022, he established 3 other medical service clinics, MBM Speciality Medical Center (Chairman, 40% shares), IV Witness Lounge DIFC (40%
shares), and Derma 247 Laser Clinic (20% shares). Just like his international success in tourism and trading plywood, he aims to make his medical
sector business a global talk.
On being a good leader, he says:
“Always try to identify what your employees are capable of, without judging their education, experience, or profession. Some of my employees from yesterday are my partners today. I am willing to go to the lengths to open a business for them and take a share in the ownership to acknowledge my effort. I like motivating humans.”
His thoughts about life & business:
“Nothing is ever late in life. You can never be too old to start a business. There is no such thing as the passing of an age. If you trust your idea, go on and give your 100% to it”
On being exposed to different cultures, he explains:
“One thing I have understood with time is that a place that has people of different ethnicities and nationalities is vibrant and happy. One learns different practices from different cultures, that can help you be a better version of yourself. For example, I was inspired to wake up early, hit the gym, and sleep early from different cultures on my visit to Singapore. Here
staying with people of different nationalities was an eye-opener.”
Mr Almarzooqi is soon going to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Technology from the University of Thames. In present times and in future, he will be remembered forever for his gigantic contribution to technology, entrepreneurship, and business management.
After receiving his degree, the prefix “Dr” will be added to his name, making him Dr.Almarzooqi.
